Bristol-Meyers Squibb and Kraft Foods - Case Study #2

The challenge:

In late July, 2001 Bristol-Myers Squibb and Kraft Foods - two powerful forces in the American marketplace-began a quest to explore the possible creation of a joint venture or partnership to create and deliver new products, services or tools to meet the needs of people with Type 2 Diabetes. Practical Imagination joined as process managers.

Our approach:

Through a custom-designed program we launched into five critical phases of work for Kraft Foods and Bristol-Myers Squibb. They included:

Grounding

Team Preparation

Exploratory Research with people with Type 2 Diabetes and caregivers

Team Ideation Sessions

Follow-Through

The results:

Pinpointed three strategic areas of potential joint operations. Created new market opportunities including a new line of low carbohydrate foods and healthy meals, and a new line of brick-and-mortar wellness centers and /or online diabetes resources.
